BKT Advantage players reach WTA 125 semi-finals

BKT Advantage players Maja Chwalińska in Rende, Italy, and Linda Klimovicova in Samsun, Turkey, reached the singles semi-finals of WTA 125 tournaments.

Chwalińska, currently No. 135 in the WTA rankings, lost Saturday’s semi-final in the Calabrian town 3:6, 2:6 to fourth-seeded Czech Sara Bejlek, ranked No. 117 in the world.
Earlier, the Pole won three matches at the clay-court event in Calabria. In the opening first round, she defeated Italian Silvia Ambrosio 6:2, 6:4. 
She then eliminated second-seeded Latvian Daria Semenistaja 6:0, 6:4, winning the first nine games of the match before unexpectedly dropping her serve in the tenth.
Finally, in the quarter-final, Maja defeated Oksana Selekhmeteva (No. 7 seed) 6:3, 6:4. This result should allow the Bielsko-Biała player

to rise from No. 135 in the WTA rankings to around No. 126 as early as next Monday.

WTA 125 in Samsun

Klimovicova began the tournament ranked No. 188 in the WTA standings and should move up to around No. 166 afterwards. She lost the battle for a place in the final 7:6 (11-9), 4:6, 2:6 to second-seeded Slovenian Kaja Juvan.

Linda opened her campaign in Turkey with an impressive 6:2, 6:1 victory over fourth-seeded Italian Lucrezia Stefanini.

In the second round she defeated Germany’s Carolina Werner 6:3, 6:1, and in the quarter-final eliminated eighth-seeded Belgian Sofia Costoulas 6:3, 6:4, converting only her eighth match point.
