Karol Filar – a player from Beskidzki Klub Tenisowy Advantage – won his second professional singles tournament on Sunday, triumphing at the ITF M15 event in Kuala Lumpur. In the final, he defeated Japan’s Yuta Kawahashi 6:3, 7:6 (7-3).

The Pole was seeded seventh in the draw, while the Japanese player was seeded fourth.

Filar advanced from the first round when his Filipino opponent Francis Casey-Alcantar retired due to injury with the score at 4:1. In the second round, he defeated Ukraine’s Timur Bieldugin 6:3, 6:2.

His biggest win came in the quarter-final, where he eliminated top-seeded American Evan Zhu 3:6, 6:3, 6:4. In the semi-final, he then beat fifth-seeded Indonesian Rifqi Fitriadi 6:2, 6:0.

Karol clearly feels at home in the Malaysian capital, having reached the semi-final of a tournament at the same level there the previous week. This time he went two steps further.
