ITF W75 in Vitoria-Gasteiz – Klimovicova’s biggest career victory

Linda Klimovicova, representing Beskidzki Klub Tenisowy Advantage Bielsko-Biała, achieved the biggest victory of her career by winning Sunday’s ITF W75 tournament on the hard courts of Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain.

In Sunday’s final, Linda, currently No. 212 in the WTA rankings, faced Lithuania’s Justina Mikulskyte, ranked just two places lower but seeded third in the draw. The match lasted two hours and 10 minutes, and the Bielsko-Biała player came out on top 0:6, 7:6 (7-5), 6:0.

Linda claimed an ITF W75 title for the first time. It is the seventh title of her career and her second this season, following her success at the ITF W50 in La Marsa. 

The 21-year-old Klimovicova was seeded fourth in the Basque Country and played three three-set matches on her way to the final. In the first round, she defeated Dutch qualifier Demi Tran 4:6, 6:3, 6:0.

She then beat Spain’s Maria Martinez-Vaquero 6:0, 4:6, 6:2 in the round of 16, and eighth seed Isabella Shinikova of Bulgaria 3:6, 6:1, 6:4 in the quarter-final. She reached the final by eliminating second-seeded Ukrainian Daria Snigur 6:4, 7:6 (7-1).
