12.08.2025

Paweł Juszczak (KT Kubala Ustroń) and Kacper Knitter (SKT Szczecin) won their opening matches at the ITF M15 BKT Advantage Cup in Bielsko-Biała, part of the LOTTO PZT Polish Tour – Polish National Cup.

In the first round, Juszczak defeated Jakub Jędrzejczak (BKT Advantage Bielsko-Biała), who received a wild card from the Polish Tennis Association, 6:3, 6:3. In the second round, Paweł will face the winner of Wednesday’s match between Karol Filar (BKT Advantage Bielsko-Biała) and third-seeded South African David Beckley.

Knitter, also awarded a special entry by the PZT, defeated Czech Ondrej Horak 3:6, 7:5, 6:4 on Tuesday. In the round of 16, he will face sixth-seeded Brazilian Igor Gimenez.

Three Polish players were unsuccessful on the first day of main-draw competition on the BKT Advantage Bielsko-Biała courts at Ceramiczna Street. In addition to Jędrzejczak, Jan Chłodnicki (KS Górnik Bytom) and Oskar Grzegorzewski (WKT Mera Warszawa) also lost their opening matches.

A total of 12 Polish players made the draw for this year’s ITF M15 BKT Advantage Cup. Tomasz Berkieta (WKT Mera Warszawa) is the only seeded Pole, at No. 5, and will open against Czech Jiri Cizek.

The second all-Polish first-round match will feature Kacper Szymkowiak (UKS Sport Klub Wrocław) against Jakub Hrynkiewicz (DeSki Warszawa), the only Polish player to come through the three-stage qualifying competition.

Two other Poles received rather unlucky draws, facing the top two seeds: Jasza Szajrych (WKS Grunwald Poznań) will play top seed Ukrainian Viacheslav Bielinskyi, while wild card entrant Mateusz Lange (POZ Bruk Sobota) faces No. 2 seed Peter Fajta of Hungary. The winner will meet either the holder of the final wild card, Jakub Krawczyk (CKT Grodzisk Maz.), or Brazilian qualifier Rafael Tosetto in the round of 16.

The men moved seamlessly into action on the BKT Advantage Bielsko-Biała courts at 20 Ceramiczna Street immediately after the women, who competed for ranking points last week in the ITF W15 BKT Advantage Cup. Marcelina Podlińska (KS Górnik Bytom) won the tournament, extending her winning streak on the professional Tour to ten matches.

The previous Sunday, Marcelina triumphed at the ITF W15 event in Savitaipale, winning the first professional singles title of her career. Daria Górska (Legia Warszawa), partnering Czech Emma Slavikova, also recorded her first career title, this time in doubles.
