Great news from Oeiras, Portugal. Maja Chwalińska enjoyed an outstanding week, capped by victory at a WTA 125 tournament played on clay. It is another important step in her career and a clear sign that she can increasingly set her sights on joining the world’s elite.
The Pole won five matches in Oeiras, defeating top seed Beatriz Haddad Maia along the way, before beating Sinja Kraus 6:1, 6:3 in the final and controlling the match from the opening points.
The triumph in Oeiras is the third WTA 125 title of the Pole’s career – and interestingly, all three have come on clay. She previously won in Florianópolis (2024) and Montreux (2025), confirming that clay is very much her natural surface.
Success in Portugal also brought a significant rise in the WTA rankings. Chwalińska moved up 11 places and now sits at No. 118 – the highest ranking of her career to date.
We will see her back on the courts in Oeiras again this week, where she will compete in another tournament of the same category.
