Beskidzki Klub Tenisowy Advantage representative Katarzyna Kawa reached a WTA 250 final for the second time in her career. In Bogotá on Sunday, she lost the title match 3:6, 3:6 to second-seeded Colombian Camila Osorio.
Almost immediately after the final, Kasia set off for Radom, where next week (10–12 April) she will compete in the Billie Jean King Cup Group E qualifying tournament. On the clay court at the Radom Sports Centre, Poland will face Switzerland (Thursday) and Ukraine (Friday) for the right to play in the BJK Cup Finals 2025 in Shenzhen in November. Only the top team will advance.
Before competing in Bogotá, Kasia had already come close to a WTA 250 title once, reaching the final in Jurmala in 2019. This time too, she had to concede defeat to her opponent in the decisive match. Second-seeded Camila Osorio triumphed in front of her home crowd. Ranked a high No. 54 in the WTA standings, the Colombian defeated the Pole 6:3, 6:3.
It was their first meeting, and Osorio successfully defended the title she had won there a year earlier. She had also won the event in 2021. In Sunday’s final, the Colombian broke her opponent’s serve as early as the second game.
Kawa did recover the break to make it 1:2, but immediately dropped her serve again to fall behind 1:3. At 2:5, she failed to convert five break points. She ultimately lost the first set 3:6.
In the second set, Camila raced to a 3:0 lead with a double break. The Pole managed to recover only one of them, for 1:3, and could not turn the final around, although she saved three match points late on. On Monday, she will rise to No. 156 in the WTA rankings.
